Preston goes to Soccer!

Preston had his first day at soccer class today. He's joined a pre-school soccer class that helps develop confidence, ball handling, co-ordination, turn-taking and that sort of thing. It was so fun! He had a great time kicking the ball around and running relays with shooting into the goal, jumping over obstacles and racing with the other kids. I think he will get a lot out of it and i'm really glad we signed him up.

It's my birthday this weekend! I really only just realised how close it is, yikes! I'm having a coffee & cake night with lots of dessert treats and also a mobile cafe in a van is coming to do the drinks. A few people have asked what I want for my birthday - I really don't need anything, so no presents required. However if you insist, I am loving knitting magazines at the moment (available at places like paperplus).

Maxwell is 2 months old!

And now onto Maxwell....

Wow, time is flying, Maxwell is 2 months old already. But in some ways it feels like it's been much longer, and he seems so much more grown up! He's got the hang of communication and 'talks' to us in little coos and other sounds that are his vocalisations when he's happy. He talks to us and to toys or pictures that appeal to him. He just had a 10 minute conversation to 'The Very Hungry Caterpiller'. He also smiles and laughs lots!

Preston and Maxwell adore each other and Preston can't wait until Maxwell is big enough to play with him, and Maxwell appears to be interested in everything Preston does and I'm sure he wants to join in, if only he knew how. This is a photo of Preston when he was a little bit older, but they are both hoody boys with big eyes!

His growth rate is more than Preston's was - he's about 650g bigger at the same stage. His cheeks and chin are bigger and I guess he's just a little chunkier all over. Preston at the moment is looking quite lanky compared to the other kids at his daycare. But he's had a bit of a growth spurt too - I've had to buy him new shoes as he's grown out of everything.

Here is our first family photo - isn't it lovely? It was taken at my Grandad Max's funeral last week, which was an amazing celebration. Preston had a great time meeting his cousins and running around showing off. At least he looked cute in his trousers with braces and tie!
