33 Weeks
This week your baby weighs a little over 4 pounds and measures 17.2 inches from the top of his head to his heels. His skin is becoming less red and wrinkled, and while most of his bones are hardening, his skull is quite pliable and not completely joined. This will help him ease out of your relatively narrow birth canal.
Yes I'm getting a bit concerned about the 'relatively narrow birth canal' especially when you think of how large a baby is. I really don't think we are physiologically designed to easily give birth. It is going to HURT. A LOT. However, an interesting thing has been happening recently - all the bones and ligaments in my pelvic area have all dissolved away in preparation, and now I feel a bit better about actually fitting a whole person out of me. I just hope they know how to re-harden afterwards, because it really feels like all my innards could fall out if I sneeze too violently or something. Walking and rolling over in bed are also becoming increasingly difficult. Actually, rolling over in bed is pretty painful. I was talking to a pregnant lady the other day who is about 5 weeks ahead of me, and she was all exhausted and exasperated and everything and said pretty soon I would be sleeping sitting up in bed with a thousand pillows holding me up.
We started our ante-natal classes last week. It's a bit silly (lots of group work and brainstorming on large sheets of blank newsprint with coloured markers etc), but fun - and there are about 14 couples all due in December so hopefully we can make some friends. Of course, we are the youngest :( Stupid differences in life-goals...oh well.
Found someone to replace me at work, so I wont be working much longer - hooray! And hopefully we are able to move this weekend.
That's it. I don't even know if anyone reads my blog. I hope someone does!
7 weeks to go. HURRY UP!
